How to handle different types of human relationships?

Ever wondered how most of our relations work? According to the National Survey of Family Growth, the chances of marriage lasting 10 years was 68% for women and 70% for men.

Not just about romantic relationships, every types of human relationships grow and manifest on its own if provided the required amount of effort, space and mutual respect.

I would like to throw a light to the different types of relationships that exist and actually how they should manifest in order to grow.

Work to grow relationships

As human beings, we always fall prey to toxic relationships in some point of our life. People involved in our lives who makes our life beautiful and worthy somehow compensates for the toxicity that we have been dealing with the compelled relationships.

We always presume the fact that whenever whatever bad happens to us, they will be there as our savior and shield, but as time progresses we tend to overlook the fact that they also grow older, they also expect a shield from us, they also expect someone to be their savior.

As a matter of fact, a relation grows well only when there is mutual efforts to make it worthy. There has to be equal amount of effort and desire from parents’ side also.

If you have to be your son’s or your daughter’s friend or if you want they should never hide anything from you, they should never lie to you, then please try to create that space and comfort right from their childhood so that they find relief in seeing you not fear.

Advancement of technology ruined different types of human relationships

Today if we talk about the dependency of our lives on technology, we surely can never ignore the fact that technology has indeed made our lives much easier than before.

But it has surely killed emotions. When I am saying this, I am saying this out of a stressed-out tone. There may be difference in opinions and you may not agree with me on this, but life was much peaceful and well-decorated earlier.

Having said that, the effects and advantages of technology on mankind can never be ignored. Its advancement came as a booster to many people and improved their lifestyle.

According to Matt Mullenweg, “Technology is best when it brings people together.”  We are always taught that we should focus only on the brighter side of everything and ignore the rest. But I believe, some gaps can never be filled, or some wounds can never be repaired, it only gets deeper with the progress of time.

With the advancement of technology, internet got cheaper and became affordable to many people and there can be no joy greater than this. There was a time when we used to pay some 200-300 rupees for a gigabyte of data, when now only we have to spend 10-15 rupees. That’s exactly when social media came into picture.

There exist various types of social media platforms today where one can give his/her views about a certain topic, engage with their loved ones, develop relationships, showcase their talents, find lost friendships and also make a career out of it.

Speaking about social media platforms, Facebook remains the most widely used social media platform today with over 2.934 billion monthly active users followed by YouTube (2.515 billion), WhatsApp (2 billion) and Instagram (1.386 billion).

These platforms play a huge role in day to day lives of mankind today and its absence today somehow becomes unbearable and intolerable.

Considering all this thing, still these advancements have laid down many negative impacts on mankind and ruined their different types of relationships. People are more drawn towards improving their social media presence and engagement rather than improving themselves as individuals.

The amount of views, likes, shares on a particular picture or video today decide the mood and emotions of many persons, especially the teenagers. They always tend to make more friends on social media than in real life.

Earlier, when we used to talk to our friends on message, we patiently waited for their reply, but now when we have so many chat messaging applications we surely can find out when the opposite person is viewing our message and then if they don’t respond for some time, we automatically tend to incline to the fact that there is ignorance.

Wishing your friends, loved ones on birthdays or special occasions on Facebook or Instagram today stands more viable and acceptable rather than spending that particular day with that person.

Technology or social media should never be a barrier or an instrument of measurement in relationships because relationships work on emotions, not on technologies.

Relations can be modified, feelings can’t

A beautiful relationship is often admired, adored and discussed. Every individual tends to compare their relations with others.

This happens mostly in case of romantic relationships where a particular person develops this inferiority that ours should be like theirs. And this is the worst thing that can happen.

Every person is different and so do their priorities and personalities.

No relation in this world can run smoothly every time, there will be time of misunderstandings and sorrow. A third factor should never be a barrier in any relation be it comparison, age, caste or religion. I would like every one of you to go through my article where I spoke about age difference in relationships: The little-known facts about age difference in relationships (coundness.com)

According to Donald Miller,When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are”.

We can never find someone perfect for us and it’s a very wrong conception that exists that he is the right man/woman for me. It starts building expectations on one person and often leaves the opposite person overburdened.

Having said that, some relationships in our life seriously creates pressure and disturbance. These relationships continue in our life just for the sake of blood or if we are related and get easily broken if there is none.

Continuing a relationship just for the sake of societal impressions should never be done, I believe.  Two persons may be very good, but then only, when they are separated.

Compatibility issues are very common in new-age relationships, and I believe it’s better to strike it off or give it a break rather than continuing it with immense displeasure and discomfort between the persons involved.

Some relations do get a booster or works well after a break because you can obviously find out many ways to modify your relations, but your feelings can never be modified.

So, if at all feelings exist in any relation, several ways can be figured out to make it work and then start again and believe me it’s not a crime.

quotes on human relationships

One should always provide the other person enough time, space and understanding to correct themselves if they really want to rectify themselves.

A mistake can be once or twice but when certain things gets repeated on a regular basis that is surely a habit. In that case, one should never exaggerate any relation. It’s better to leave it there.

So, to conclude, I would like to convey to my readers that human relationships are very complicated at times and very peaceful at times. A relation which does not give you mental peace and proper understanding it gradually becomes unstable and ultimately dies.

On the other hand, some relations do give you a booster and makes you a better human being in front of the world and that particular person becomes your pride and your constant companion.

I would like to end my thoughts again with a quote from Invajy, “Never stop communications, misunderstandings can be cleared only when you have a word with each other”
